Victoria Gracen
I was a high school teacher of Home Economics and English and am now an Early Childhood Teacher at Sunny Hills. The English teaching background began the journey of establishing an environment in the Early Childhood setting that promoted reading, sharing, communication, positive interactions around discussions with a focus on respecting the thoughts of others and developing the skill of listening and building each child’s confidence.
Problem-solving in everyday tasks is promoted through discussions with the children in small and large groups and with each individual child. The children are encouraged to ask questions to promote a new idea through stages of thought or just to enjoy engaging with friends.

I was a high school teacher of Manual Arts and Maths for 26 years. Victoria and I opened Sunny Hills in 1994, however the demands of the service were too much for one person, so I joined the team full time in the April of 1994, working in the office. I engaged with the children in the yard and the garden and taught the children hand skills working with wood using hammers and nails to make small timber constructions. I also handle the maintenance and improvements in the service.
